California

I took a trip out to Los Angeles, California. It was my first "adult" trip I suppose...post college/post spring break get away. It allowed me to take a break from the chaos that is New York City and enjoy a more laid back lifestyle.

Be sure to click to see the full frame as this wonderful blog, that I have yet to figure out how to use, likes to crop horizontal photos.

Mobile Uploads

Life has been extremely busy lately and I have had little time to photograph with the dslr or the yashica. And I have to say that I needed to take a break from lugging 2lb or more cameras around all day in my purse. So instead I started taking random photos with my black berry. Yes, I know….a black berry camera….not so great. But it has made me realize just how dependant I have become on my black berry. People of my generation area rarely caught without their cell phones and, in New York, it is a common sight to see people texting and talking while they stroll down the street. I have begun to make a conscious effort to leave the black berry in the purse while I am walking home or riding the subway in an effort to try to experience a little bit more of New York City. I do occasionally pull it out to snap a photo but have found that it is extremely calming to turn off from the world of technology, if even for a few moments a day. That said, here are a few candid’s and photos via black berry phone.

4x5 Testing

4x5 Testing

So I am seeing what shape my great Uncle John's 4x5 camera is in. These are a few 4x5 black and white polaroids. I am happy with the way they turned out, although there was a light leak that needed to be fixed.

Winter in NYC

This is the first winter that I will be spending in New York City. During the Holidays, the whole city was bustling with activity. Tourists meandered the streets, staring upwards at the colossal structures of Times Square. New York City inhabitants struggled to drag over sized Norway pine trees home. My friends and I ventured to Rockefeller Center for an evening viewing of The Christmas Tree, window displays and hot coffee. Post New Years, things began to calm down. The city returned to it's normal 9-5 schedule, which is actually 8-7, and coffee induced coma's. The days are getting colder and longer. Although winter is barely halfway over, city inhabitants are longing for the days of summer; Movies in Bryant Park, rooftop gatherings and outdoor dining. But for now we will enjoy each others company while partaking in indoor extravaganzas and cuddling up with cups of tea while gossiping about the latest issue of Vanity Fair.

Christmas

Just a few images that I shot over Christmas vacation. I have realized that I really don't miss -32 degree weather...at all...
